Fortaleza Añejo Tequila is a distinguished expression within the renowned lineup of tequilas produced by Tequila Los Abuelos. Crafted in the heart of Jalisco, Mexico, this Añejo tequila reflects a tradition that spans five generations of the Sauza family. The name "Los Abuelos" translates to "The Grandparents," paying homage to the legacy and expertise passed down through the family.

What sets Fortaleza Añejo apart is its meticulous production process, which begins with estate-grown Blue Weber agave plants. These mature agaves are harvested by hand, and the piñas (agave hearts) are slowly roasted in traditional stone ovens, extracting rich flavours and aromas. The juice is then fermented using natural airborne yeast and distilled in copper pot stills, maintaining a commitment to artisanal methods.

The Añejo expression signifies that the tequila has been aged for an extended period, with Fortaleza typically maturing for up to 18 months in American oak barrels. This aging process imparts a sophisticated complexity to the tequila, revealing notes of caramel, vanilla, and oak, while still retaining the essence of the agave.

Fortaleza Añejo Tequila is celebrated for its smooth and well-balanced character, making it a favourite among tequila connoisseurs. Whether sipped neat to appreciate its nuanced flavours or used in premium cocktails, this añejo tequila stands as a testament to the commitment to traditional craftsmanship and the art of tequila production.
